In 2016, Sam and Philipp, two good friends who shared a fascination for minimalist design, craftsmanship, and the quiet beauty of nature, contemplated an idea shaped by the striking landscapes of the Ore Mountains:
"Could we create objects that capture the Ore Mountains' natural elegance?"
The Ore Mountains, known for their mineral richness and serene forests, became more than scenery, they became a source of direction. Sam and Philipp envisioned designs that reflected the region’s understated charm through honest materials, warm textures, and timeless simplicity.
Guided by that vision, Zeitholz was born. What began with wooden timepieces gradually expanded into a broader purpose: to craft everyday objects that bring warmth, intention, and a sense of connection to the natural world.
Today, Zeitholz offers a thoughtful family of nature-inspired accessories, including wooden watches, sunglasses, natural stone & wood jewellery sets, and our first fragrance, Oud Whispers—each created with care and a respect for natural materials.
At our core is a simple belief: meaningful design begins with understanding the materials we choose.
At Zeitholz, natural materials and timeless design play a central role in what we create. From watches and wooden sunglasses to jewellery, we combine carefully selected materials with functional design and a clear visual identity.
For every Zeitholz watch, pair of sunglasses, perfume and jewellery set sold, we fund the planting of one tree through our partnership with Trees for the Future (TREES). If a set contains several of these products, the number of trees increases accordingly.
TREES carries out this planting through its agroforestry projects with farming communities in sub-Saharan Africa. In this way, our work with design and natural materials is complemented by a concrete, long-term partnership.
Every Zeitholz product contains a true piece of nature – whether it rests on your wrist or shades your eyes.
Our design philosophy blends the elegance of traditional watchmaking with the beauty and sustainability of the natural world.
Each of our creations unites nature and innovation, delivering functionality, longevity, and a distinctive style — crafted with precision, care, and attention to material choice.
In crafting Zeitholz watches, we use natural wood materials with distinctive grain, colour and texture. These natural variations give each product its own individual character.
For our packaging, we use paper, cardboard and other natural or recyclable materials where possible, while reducing unnecessary plastic.
Together with our manufacturing partners, we continue working to improve transparency around the materials used, production processes and long-term product quality.
Our collections of watches for men and watches for women are a tribute to the Ore Mountains, a region steeped in beauty and tradition.
Each watch carries the name of a Saxony town, reflecting the distinctive charm of these locales.
From the quiet waters of the Bärwalder See a couple of kilometres from Klitten to the imposing beauty of Stolpen' Castle, every design captures the spirit of its namesake.
This map of the Ore Mountains is more than a guide; it's an invitation to explore the stories behind our watches, each pinpoint a source of inspiration for the piece on your wrist.
Join us on this journey through time and space, where history meets the horology of Zeitholz.
